Entry 20.54Stop —Projection 24Closed 20.50 on Aug 18, 2026Risk: Extreme · Short term

The index seeks to offer exposure to market volatility through publicly traded futures markets and is designed to measure the implied volatility of the S&P 500 over 30 days in the future. Does not pay dividends.

  • Aug 13, 2026 — The VIX is trading near the lower end of its historical range—around 14—where sharp volatility spikes have repeatedly formed in the past. Our setup is to enter a long position in UVXY in this low-volatility zone and capture a potential mean-reversion move back toward 18–20+. UVXY provides leveraged exposure to short-term VIX futures, so when volatility spikes sharply, the ETF's move can significantly outpace the VIX itself. This is a tactical trade on the bounce rather than a long-term hold: as the VIX returns toward the 18–20 range, we plan to take profits on the bulk of the position.
  • Aug 18, 2026 — Stepped out of the position for now — the bounce in volatility did not develop while the ETF kept bleeding from its structure, so there was no reason to keep paying for it. Closed effectively flat, a touch below the entry. The setup itself still stands; a re-entry is likely within the next few weeks.
